Get a Kick Out of Kicky Pants

If you have not yet experienced the silk-like feel of bamboo fabric, you have to visit Little One & Co to touch our recently arrived fall Kicky Pants collection. Whether you're looking for twirly dresses, everyday tops & pants or pajamas, you'll find a beautiful eco-friendly, affordable and practical alternative to silk.

About Bamboo: Similar in feel to rayon, bamboo is extremely silky to the touch. You'll often see it made into pajamas and lingerie because it's so soft but also because of its insulating properties. Don't be fooled by the thin fabric: like silk, it keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It's also great for layering.

Because of the absorbency quality, one thing to remember is that if you machine-dry bamboo, it will almost always emerge slightly damp -- simply hang for a short time to complete the drying process.

Building Toys + Cars = Automoblox

Automoblox combine children's love for things that go vroooom with building. They're cars that kids can easily put together and play with then take apart and start all over again. They're age-rated 3+ but expect that kids 3-4 years old will need your assistance in putting them together while kids 5+ years will be able to build cars. But even grown-up kids (aka Daddy) will enjoy playing with them because they're so stylized and unusual with their modern wood and plastic design. They're a great gift for kids who love LEGOs, blocks and cars but are ready for a different kind of toy. We have the Originals ($40) and Minis ($13) plus Set of 3 Minis ($32) in pink, blue and yellow.

Whether it's Grandma's, a restaurant or a waiting room, The Piggy Story offers kits of different sizes and combinations. For example, the most basic Art-to-Go Roll includes eight crayons but has an additional six pockets for mini pencils, or small scissors and conveniently rolls up to stash in your diaper bag or purse. The Art Folio includes and holds 12 crayons, a pad of paper and closes up nicely in a little case that closes with velcro. Bebe au Lait Nursing Covers

For moms who are modest about nursing in public, breastfeeding covers can be a lifesaver and make the difference between an extremely unhappy and hungry baby and one who is satisfied and comforted by mama's milk. That's why we decided to carry the beautiful nursing covers by Bebe au Lait/Hooter Hiders.

Designed to be worn like an apron but around your neck, Bebe au Lait nursing covers have a rigid neckline that allow Mom and Baby to maintain eye contact during feeding.

A few weeks ago, during our Maplewood Village Fall Open Market, our store window was turned into a photo studio as local photographer Joanie Schwarz shot portraits of our customers' newborns, infants, toddlers, children and families. You'd never guess she was working in a space just four feet by fifteen feet. Here's just one of the gorgeous images-- visit her site for more!

Want to get your own Joanie Schwarz Portrait? Call her Westfield, NJ studio at 908 233 8615. We'll be offering more Little One & Co. in-store sessions soon -- stay tuned for the date!

BabyLegs Are Here Just in Time for Chilly Weather!

If you haven't yet discovered BabyLegs, let us introduce you. The baby and kid-sized leg warmers($13/pair) are not just a fashion statement, they're completely practical as they provide warmth and protection to little legs and arms. We just received a big shipment that are on display in the front of the store PLUS their new ankle sock line ($27/six pair gift set) for sizes 12-24 months and 2T-4T. Come check them out!

For babies learning to crawl, they protect bare legs and knees from hard floors or rug burn! They're fabulous for adding an extra layer under pants, skirts or dresses. For little girls learning to use the toilet, unlike leggings or tights, they're one less thing to pull down. They're also great for an extra bit of warmth when paired with baby's bodysuit, especially if you're practicing elimination communication, nothing beats the the convenience of using BabyLegs instead of pants or leggings. They also let kids wear their short-sleeve tees into fall and winter-- just pull them onto their arms. And of course, adults can wear them too! Since one size fits most, the only decision to make is which styles you want to go home with!

Smart Mom Jewelry

When I became a mom, I put wearing jewelry on a hiatus because everything my daughter could reach got yanked and, when she got coordinated enough, shoved into her mouth along with everything else. I missed being able to accessorize and feel girly.

In recent years, a number of teething jewelry companies have emerged with fashionable jewelry that is safe for babies to gnaw on. We have chosen to feature one of them, Smart Mom Jewelry, at Little One & Co. They offer donut-style pendants with break-away clasps and coordinating bangles. What makes them safe for baby? They're made of medical grade silicone!

At $21 for the necklace and $28 for the necklace/bangle set, they make a terrific gift for the new mom or mom-to-be.
